It does what it is supposed to, kinda. We purchased 5 seats of 2007 server but dont use it because it crashes MS CRM server. So we bought stand alone to get by until IT solves the issue. Several work arounds are required if you want to create resource templates for use in multiple projects using the stand alone software. All the really good features are in the server version. And still not sure of the design intent that allows you to over allocate a resource. Its always been my opinion that it shouldnt let you do that but yet it does.

I remember struggling with MS Project in the 1990s... it was hopelessly obtuse, labor intensive, hard to understand, etc. This 2007 version is actually usable and takes most of the pain out of creating a project schedule with multiple complexities. Good job, Microsoft. The program still needs more integration with other c.2007 MS products, and it need to improve on its Excel-like user interface -- which really doesn't work very well for project management. But all that said, this product is capable of productive use within 24 hours of installation without any prior experience. I do recommend that new users buy a good instructional book to go with it, tho, just for reference. The book I got was "Microsoft Project 2007: The missing Manual" by Bonnie Biafore; Pogue Press/O'Reilly. Helpful right off the bat. Wish I'd had this version in 1997.

This was my first software purchase on Amazon. Because the product was $100 less than I'd seen on the Microsoft website and in retail stores, I was nervous that the product was not new or would not come with a "key" or some other issue. I was delighted to receive a completely new software package just as if I bought it retail.
